Trying to summarize your whole self into an elevator pitch format isn't easy. When I am forced to describe myself, a few things come to mind. I'm an American expat who has spent most of her adult life in Germany. For most of the past ten years, I've been in Heidelberg. Between 2010 and 2013, I lived in Galway, Ireland with my family. I'm not an expat wife or trailing spouse, but I did come to Germany for love the second time around -- both the love and the move were a second chance for me. In "real life" I am a technical editor at a startup that makes software that helps doctors find the most suitable cancer treatment for their patients. I have four children in a what the Germans like to call a "patchwork family" and am married to Jan, who will also be posting on the blog regularly.
I am a learner, a teacher, a reader, a lover of language, and a talker. As a writer, I've mainly focused on blogging for expat websites, including the German Way. I'm also a feminist, a working mom, and an advocate for marriage equality. For the past year I have also been using and distributing essential oils from Young Living. You'll be hearing more about that later, mostly because I can't stop talking about them and am always amazed at how much they can help my own family and those around me.
Although I speak and write German fluently, my posts will be in English. My standards for writing are too high for even me to meet! I'm looking forward to spending some time with you guys. Welcome!
